Rive's interface only shows what is needed, when you need it. The interface is divided into a few main panels, described below.

The Inspector allows you to adjust the properties for the currently selected object. In Animate mode, you will only see properties that can be animated.

The Toolbar displays the tools you have available to manipulate and create items on the stage. Note that these change based on whether you are in Design or Animate mode.

The Timeline appears when you switch to Animate mode. It displays playback controls and options for the current animation. When the Timeline is visible, the Hierarchy displays an Animations pane, which contains a list of all the animations that are available for the current artboard.

The stage is where your designs and animations are rendered. Rive's stage is infinite and it allows you to place an infinite amount of artboards on it. When you first create a file, a default artboard is created on the stage for you. Every object on the stage must be inside an artboard. That means that every Rive file has to have at least one artboard.
